Eboni Price-Haywood, MD, MPH, FACP, is the medical director for Ochsner Health System’s Healthy State 2030 initiative and the Ochsner Xavier Institute for Health Equity and Research (OXIHER). In both roles, she is leading efforts to better understand and address health inequity in Louisiana.

Healthy State 2030 is multi-stakeholder-engaged, comprehensive strategy to improve the overall health of Louisiana by the year 2030. In partnership with Xavier University of Louisiana, OXIHER uses outcomes research, population health, workforce development and health equity education initiatives, community engagement, and health advocacy to investigate and create solutions for the challenges we face today.

Price-Haywood is the former director of the Center for Outcomes & Health Service Research at Ochsner Health. In that role, she led a systemwide research center whose goal is to accelerate discovery of new knowledge concerning clinical and cost effectiveness of healthcare delivery innovations; translate research into practice; and disseminate research findings to improve clinical, administrative, and policy decision making.

Price-Haywood has spent her career as a primary care physician, focusing on disease prevention, health promotion, and care delivery improvements, with a particular focus on addressing health disparities and advancing health equity. She has also held key leadership roles within the Society of General Internal Medicine as an elected council member, as co-chair of the Health Equity Commission, and as an editorial board member of the Journal of General Internal Medicine.

Price-Haywood earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a master of public health at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.

Price-Haywood was appointed as a member of the PCORI Board of Governors by the Comptroller General of the United States in September 2020.
